We count on memberships to assist us in our major mission, which is providing funds to keep the Fullerton Arboretum thriving. The funds that we raise through selling memberships assist the Arboretum in a variety of ways, both through capital improvements and operating expenses.

Every year is also filled with outstanding events at the Arboretum, especially our Green Scene Garden Show and Midsummer Night in the Garden Gala, each of which raised significant sums for the Arboretum. Our Potting Shed stages numerous themed plant sales, including the Monster Tomato and Pepper Sale in March, a Vine Sale in September, and a California Native and Mediterranean Plant Sale in September.

The Friends also provide educational programs that benefit the community. Every year, over 10,000 elementary school children enjoy guided tours that expose them to science and the environment in the natural setting of the Arboretum. Our Victorian Society offers tours of Heritage House and a glimpse of life in the Victorian era. We also offer summer walks in the gardens, affording the opportunity for nature lovers of all ages to learn more about our wonderful collections.

American Horticultural Society's Reciprocal Admissions Program

The American Horticultural Society's Reciprocal Admissions Program (RAP) promotes horticulture across America, encouraging people to visit gardens while traveling. This program is a network of gardens with similar objectives, encouraging members to discover, explore, and share in this diverse community, striving to make “ America a Nation of Gardeners, a Land of Gardens. ” Since its inception in 1990, this program has grown and evolved to represent a diverse community of more than 200 organizations in 44 states, plus Canada and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

AHS members as well as members of the participating gardens have access to a wide array of botanical gardens, arboreta, and conservatories throughout North America offering special admission privileges and many other benefits.

Any member of the Friends of the Fullerton Arboretum can enjoy reciprocal benefits at member gardens of the American Horticultural Society. By checking their website, www.AHS.org, a member can see which gardens are parts of the program.
