There are a variety of ways you can help support the Fullerton Arboretum through general donations and financial gifts. The Arboretum is proud to endorse “The Donor Bill of Rights” created by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP), the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), and the Giving Institute: Leading Consultants to Non-Profits. Below you will find a description of many ways you can help support us:

One Time Special Donations

Occasionally the Fullerton Arboretum issues special donor appeals for certain specified projects (like new exhibits or construction projects). Many times donors wish to contribute to these causes on a one time basis only. Additionally, in this category, some donors wish to simply make a one time donation to the Arboretum for personal reasons, which is undesignated as to the use of the donation.

Annual Giving Programs

Annual giving is an easy and practical way to support the Arboretum, depending on your interests and giving desires. Many individuals and or corporations and foundations have elected to support the Arboretum with a consistent planned yearly lump sum contribution (usually at the same time of the year) to help us support operations and to improve the grounds and collections. Donations of this type can be in any denomination and can be made via check or credit card (MasterCard or VISA). Donations in any amount are appreciated and often vary in amounts from $100 to $250, $500, $1,000, $5,000 and more.

Planned Giving

Planned Giving is a way to support the Arboretum through financial gifts derived from tangible investments such as real property and or stocks/bonds. The Arboretum graciously accepts gifts of this nature. Since these types of gifts by definition sometimes require detailed legal and accounting planning and documentation, please contact our Assistant to the Director, Joanne Lewis at (714) 278-4681 or email to jlewis@fullerton.edu if you have any questions.

Monthly Giving

If planned monthly giving via credit card is the answer for you, the Arboretum has an easy process in place to handle this. It is an easy and convenient method of donating money automatically each month. You can contact our Administrative Assistant in the Friends Office, Diane King, for further details at (714) 278-4010 or email to dianeking@fullerton.edu. You can simply designate a monthly amount and we will automatically bill your charge card each month. The minimum amount of this program is $25 per month, with no maximum.

Memorials

Some donors prefer to donate money in the form of a memorial for relatives or friends who have deceased. This can be done via check or though a credit card with the name of the person designated. Special memorial benches can be purchased for $5,000 and will be permanently marked and placed on the grounds of the Arboretum. Special Appeals

Occasionally, the Fullerton Arboretum issues special appeals to members and potential donors to cover the cost of special non-recurring projects that are deemed important to the growth of the Arboretum.

These projects generally fall into the category of new exhibits, buildings, structures (like bridges and gazebo’s) and specialty gardens (like Roses and Herbs). When these special appeals are made, the Arboretum usually has a specific plan in place and a predetermined budget.

In the past few years, we were able to construct the new Potting Shed, Wisteria Arbor and replace a bridge and gazebo as a direct result of special appeals and the cost of each was completely covered by donations.
