 Special Appeals

Occasionally, the Fullerton Arboretum issues special appeals to members and potential donors to cover the cost of special non-recurring projects that are deemed important to the growth of the Arboretum.

These projects generally fall into the category of new exhibits, buildings, structures (like bridges and gazebo’s) and specialty gardens (like Roses and Herbs). When these special appeals are made, the Arboretum usually has a specific plan in place and a predetermined budget.

In the past few years, we were able to construct the new Potting Shed, Wisteria Arbor and replace a bridge and gazebo as a direct result of special appeals and the cost of each was completely covered by donations.

2010 Appeal — Monument Entrance

The Fullerton Arboretum continues to grow and flourish, meeting the educational needs of our visitors, providing valuable tours and classes about our rich agricultural heritage and supporting an expanding collection of worldwide plant species.

As we continue to promote awareness of our plant environment through tours, events and classes, we realize how vitally important it is for our visitors to fully appreciate all that is contained within these 26 acres. Last year we asked you to support the building of a new Children’s Garden. We were successful and on September 26th we held a ribbon cutting to celebrate the opening of that garden. This year we want to complete our main entrance project by placing a sign to identify us to our visitors. We have worked with an artist to create a large concrete-cast entrance monument that will announce the Arboretum, Heritage House and our Agricultural & Nikkei Heritage Museum to visitors entering our front gates. This will beautifully compliment the work we have completed thus far at the entrance to the garden which includes native plantings, perimeter fencing, attractive paving stones and lighting.

The cost to fabricate and deliver the monument is estimated at $15,000. We are asking for your support to artistically enhance our entrance, announce the Arboretum and our museums. We hope you will use the enclosed donation card to make your tax-deductible contribution today and help us complete the main entrance to the Fullerton Arboretum.
